Not only can she produce catchy dance hits, but wisdom?

“Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you’re wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn’t love you anymore.” –Lady Gaga

(via Lovely Happenings)

Then again, it’s not like your career can snuggle up next to you. Or carry your heavy groceries up a couple flights of stairs. Or change the oil in your car. Or tell you that you’re beautiful. That is the dilemma.

I love this song right now

Michelle Featherstone — Coffee and Cigarettes

I gave up coffee and cigarettes
I hate to say it hasn’t helped me yet
I thought my problems would just dissipate
And all my pain would be in yesterday

I poured my booze all down the kitchen drain
And watched my bad habits get flushed away
I thought that would keep my head on straight
And all my pain would in yesterday

But it’s true, I’m still blue
But I finally know what to do
I must quit, I must quit you

I thought that if I didn’t go and play
the sadness would get bored and go away
I thought if I didn’t go astray
That all my pain would in be in yesterday

But it’s true, I’m still blue
But I finally know what to do
I must quit, I must quit you

I sold my guitar and my piano
I thought that it was these that kept me low
I thought that if only I could try and change
That all my pain would be in yesterday

But it’s true, I’m still blue
But I finally know what to do
I must quit, I must quit you

What a simple and beautiful song.

Jay-Z Blueprint 3

The album drops on Sept. 11, but you can listen to the tracks before it comes out!

Jay-z Blueprint3

JESS3’s got it on his blog.

Normally, I’m not a huge fan of Jay-Z or r&b/rap in general, but I actually like this. I think the song’s intro is the most important real estate of the song, and he sold me.

But the same time, I’m sick of the constant “I am dripping with hos and money” message.

Regardless, my faves:
“D.O.A” (Death of Autotune)
“Run this Town” (which would be awesome in my newsroom sitcom promos, just sayin’)
“Empire State of Mind”
“On to the Next One” (it sounds kinda annoying at first and reminds me of some M.I.A. track, but it grows on you)
“Already Home” (love the strings on this track)
